HTO dive with Deep Rover on June 2nd, 1999
Deep Rover, piloted by Francesca Cava, NOAA captain and submersible pilot, makes dive on the Montecito Sanitary District wastewater outfall, 1,100 feet off Butterfly Beach and the Biltmore Hotel, where the HTO event was held that evening, with underwater video footage of the outfall shown to event attendees.
During the evening following the Deep Rover dive on the Montecito outfall, HTO had a benefit fundraiser at the Biltmore’s Coral Casino, where world explorer and HTO Board member Jean-Michel Cousteau, joined deep-sea explorer (“Her Deepness”) Sylvia Earle (at the microphone), and Francesca Cava, deep submersible to talk about the importance of working for the health of the ocean.
