Heal the Ocean flags are flying on State Street! – our wonderful image of a blue sea with happy dolphins leaping in waves, bringing a happy positive note to our gray, rainy days in Santa Barbara.

They are flying because HTO has been chosen to be Grand Marshal of the 2019 Downtown Santa Barbara Holiday Parade on Friday, December 6. The Parade will proceed “rain or shine,” because it brings with it the annual ceremony of the lighting of Santa Barbara’s Christmas Tree in front of the Arlington Theater. It also brings Santa to town.

Heal the Ocean will be at the front of the parade in the Grand Marshal car, and HTO celebrants will walking with us. Please join us by walking with HTO in the parade! We have a special holiday edition Heal the Ocean T-shirt and Santa hats, a gift from us to you, to thank you for being a part of our HTO family.

We will give these Merry gifts to you when you meet us at the corner of Sola Street and State Street at 5:30 pm (Zone 1, Position #4 between Anacapa and State Street as highlighted in the image below).

Meet HTO at 5:30pm in Zone 1, Position #4 on Sola between Anacapa and State highlighted above!

The parade will begin at 6:30 pm sharp and since Heal the Ocean is at the front of the Parade, we will be concluding at Cota Street at about 7:30 p.m.– and here, you are welcome to join us at the Wildcat  Lounge for a little after party/Christmas celebration.

We hope you will share a holiday hoot with us - please make sure you bring raincoats and umbrellas, sou’westers and wetsuits. NOTE: In case of a torrential downpour, the City will cancel the Parade for Friday evening – we will post an update on Friday at noon.

If you would like to reserve your spot in the parade, please call the office (805) 965-7570 or email Operations Coordinator Alison (alison@healtheocean.org) with your T-shirt size.

Looking forward to seeing you!

Hillary & all of us at HTO

p.s. To keep the parade litter-free, please do not bring candy, silly string, or confetti - thank you!
