On Saturday, October 20, 2018, Julia Louis-Dreyfus won the most prestigious award in comedy, the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, at the Kennedy Center, Washington DC. This huge event was attended by pals and co-stars – including our beloved rock music magician Jack Johnson singing “Better Together” on stage.
A nationwide broadcast of this event will air on PBS at 9 p.m. ET (check local time) Monday, November 19.
Meanwhile, from her dressing room, Julia sent Heal the Ocean a big video congratulations for our 20th birthday celebration, to air at our Annual Event taking place Saturday night October 27, 2018, at the El Paseo Restaurant in downtown Santa Barbara.*
“Happy Birthday, Heal the Ocean,” Julia says, “You’re twenty years old? WHAT? That means next year you can drink!”
Meanwhile, on Jack Johnson’s Instagram page came a reference to both Julia and Jack being HTO Advisory Board members in a description of a neat picture (taken by his wife, Kim Johnson) of Jack at the table with Julia, Tina Fey, and fellow comedians and members of the fabulous “VEEP” cast, celebrating after the Big Bash at Kennedy Center.
Happy 20th Birthday to us, Julia and Jack! You have been with us from the beginning, you have helped us to be what we are. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being on our team.
*We wish the El Paseo was bigger to accommodate everyone – but we are entirely sold out.
P.S. Don't miss the evening news tonight (Tuesday, October 23, 2018) on KEYT for a look at HTO's meeting today with Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson and her staff, together with State Lands Commission project director Walter Scott who will oversee the capping of the next oil well off Summerland Beach!
