Healing the Ocean With The Office Closed

Dear All:

I hope this finds you all happy and healthy and that taking care of things isn’t too difficult during these unsettling times.

Following the recommendations of state and local authorities and the Santa Barbara County Public Health Department to slow the progression of the COVID-19 virus, Heal the Ocean has closed our office, and we are all working remotely.

Our work does not slow down, however! The fishes of the sea don’t know what we humans are doing up here. The leaking Summerland oil wells are still being capped in June/July. Styrofoam continues to be recycled by MarBorg Industries at their two drop-off centers. Please e-mail styrofoam@healtheocean.org for information or help.

Above all, you can easily keep the good practice of Social Distancing by cleaning the beach (there will be plenty of junk on the coastline when it stops raining!) Or taking up any of the following:

Let us know how you continue to help Heal the Ocean in these, and other ways, and we’ll share your stories with all of our membership.

In the meantime, don’t forget to wash your hands often, stay out of crowds, and above all, please stay well.

Love from all of us at Heal the Ocean

P.S. If you need to reach any of us, please call the office (805) 965-7570 and leave a message or email alison@healtheocean.org and she will direct your message.
