Heal the Ocean is excited to announce "Marine Monday," where we will be highlighting different marine organisms every week! We hope these posts bring you light and joy and make you as curious as we are about the ocean and ignite a passion for protecting marine life.

Seals (Pinnipedia) belong to the Pinnipeds family and can be found all over the world, but are most likely to live in areas with cold water. They vary tremendously in size - some weighing 100 pounds while others weigh as much as a pick-up truck!

Today, seals face threats including a lack of food and entanglement in fishing gear. Climate change is the biggest threat to seals, especially those that rely on sea ice such as the Spotted Seal above which depends on sea ice for reproduction.
